I discovered Neal Lozano's book, “Unbound,” when our covenant community planned an Unbound Conference with him. Unbound is the only child sponsorship organization to receive CharityWatch's highest rating, an A+. What I appreciated about this book was the focus on the love of God, love of the person you are talking to, the importance of healing, and knowing and living from our identity in Christ. At times, it strongly reminded me of self-help literature in the various exercises he recommends though with the spiritual element: identifying traumatic or sinful experiences – knowing that the devil can enter through these wounds and possess strength over us through them – in the name of Christ renouncing the power that these things have over us, and pursuing healing and virtue through God's grace. Together with Unbound, I decided to change the style of the cover to better reflect the content of the book. That being said, I do think there's power in renouncing lies about yourself that are brought about by the painful scars we inflict on ourselves through sin or by the words and deeds of others.
